I'm going in chronological order in which he acquired all these animals from where I took him out of canon onward to the morphs he might have acquired at Nexus.

((From Canon))
Golden Retreiver (Homer) – Homer is, as I already mentioned in the history of the first book, Jake’s very first morph. This has been used for tracking and going casually into places unnoticed back in his world. He likes this morph, because dogs don’t know despair and the incredible sense of smell is very cool.

The dog mind is generally HAPPY and giddy. Yeah, in capitals. Jake describes dog emotions as never halfway feeling things. When HAPPY, the dog is excitable; wanting to smell stuff, wanting to play games, y’know how most dogs are. When bummed, the dog’s totally, utterly bummed. And with food, it goes nuts about the subject.

With that nose, it’s as if cotton balls were shoved up humans’ nostrils. As Homer, Jake can smell a person and detect if he or she is a cat or dog person, or what the person’s stepped in or what was eaten. A dog can pick up smells from afar too.

The dog form has hearing a little better than a human’s, but the eyesight is not nearly as good.

At times the dog mind could go hyper and sort of take over, but it’s nothing dangerous or very serious. The dog part of the morph would only have Jake want to play with you.

Green Anole Lizard – This animal is a member of the iguana family, according to what Jake noticed in doing research about it. This morph is a prey animal, and like most, they’re skittish and frightened of predators. They’re most calm around safe, open, and dark places.

The eyes are kind of confusing, sort of distorted and each one is focusing on something different. The eyes can be moved individually. It can haul out when it wants to. It can even climb walls. And, like most lizards, the anole could lose its tail while getting away from danger.

Although, Jake only used this morph once. He couldn’t control the lizard mind as he ate a live spider. Whenever he even thinks about this morph, he feels nauseous about the incident.

Siberian Tiger – Jake’s battle morph. The mind of this big cat is fearless and full of confidence, knowing that it has no enemies in its natural habitat. Armed with sharp claws and teeth, he could cause serious wounds. Jake could attack bad guys as an orange and black blur.

With paws the size of frying pans, the tiger can whack someone’s head off and send it flying. Hearing, sight, and smell are all useful and excellent. Tigers like many other cats can see in the dark, as long as there is a little bit of light around.

The sound of a tiger’s roar would put fear in most men. Also, to add, Jake can sprint for a little while in this morph. Whenever Jake needs to defend himself and those he cares about while needing firepower, tiger is the way to go. He’s morphed the tiger dozens of times so he’s able to keep the tiger mind and instincts under control.

Peregrine Falcon – The falcon would be his most favorite morph to fly around in. Make this another all-time favorite as well. As a bird of prey, he can see just about everything from a thousand feet up while soaring the thermals (billowing warm air that rises up from the ground). The falcon’s eyes are like a built in pair of binoculars.

He can’t soar quite as well as a red-tailed hawk or bald eagle, but he can dive up to two hundred miles per hour.

The hearing is also superb, but he wouldn’t be able to hear much if he’s too far up. A human in contrast to a falcon is half blind and half deaf. He’s morphed the falcon plenty of times.

Flea – Jake finds this form the most useful whenever he’s in a tight spot and doesn’t want to be seen. A flea’s not easy to catch either, so he can make a quick get away by jumping up to a few feet in the air. The instincts are easy enough to move aside, because all a flea is focused on are warm bodies. It’s a calm, simple minded parasite. The flea’s senses aren’t that great, but it can detect light from darkness. Because of the insect’s poor sight and hearing, it’s not an ideal morph to use for spying on people.

Wolf (alpha male) – The wolf’s senses are about as good as a dog’s, and when it comes to forest areas, it’s like they have internal compasses so they don’t ever get lost. The eyes are supposedly better at seeing things than Homer can. They can also run for long periods of time. The wolf is a very smart and adaptable forest predator.

Jake only uses this morph when he must, to do his best to blend in woodsy areas. He’s fairly used to the wolf instincts, and he finds morphing into a wolf sort of cool--but it can be tough in resisting the wolf urges to mark its territory sometimes.

(Interesting Animorphs Trivia: Jake got to be the male wolf instead of Marco by chance in winning a coin toss in Book 3: The Encounter. When it comes to a wolf pack, there can’t be two dominant males or else they’ll challenge each other.)

Trout – It’s a freshwater fish, and Jake’s traveled in salt water more than fresh water, so this is rarely used. As a trout in an ocean, it feels as if his scales and gils are burning up. Another reason why he hasn’t used this morph more than twice is because he kept imagining himself being cooked on a grill with lemon juice.

The trout is of course capable of seeing and breathing in clean water, and is a fast swimmer. Jake’s never had any trouble controlling the fish’s instincts.

Dolphin – This morph is his main morph for whenever anything has to be done in large bodies of water. The one downside is that after a certain period of time, Jake will have to surface to intake a lungful of oxygen through the blowhole.

The instincts and mind of the dolphin are playful. Everything dolphins do is a game to them—swimming, eating fish, leaping and diving into the water, etc. Sometimes the dolphin mind tends to be a bit overwhelming to Jake.

It can see and swim very well, and through echolocation, Jake could see anything underwater to a distance of several feet ahead within line of sight. Ramming into an enemy by force and hitting him/her/it with the dolphin’s beak does some damage.

Seagull – Seagulls are decent, agile flyers. Their sight is good, but not quite as good the falcon’s. They’re more suited to flying lower altitudes to spot what people throw away because they are scavengers. It’s tough to resist the seagull mind getting excited in spotting what human food is there, but Jake doesn’t fly down to scarf any of it up.

Lobster – A very calm and simple-minded crustacean that thinks of only two things: killing and eating. The lobster’s claws would have been somewhat useful if Jake wasn’t so close to being BOILED ALIVE in a grocery store. There’s no intention of morphing a lobster again anytime soon, possibly not ever.

Ant – Jake morphed one once and never EVER wants to do that again. The ant to what he remembers is nearly blind, like trying to see any picture through bad TV snow. The antennae are used for smelling/feeling things as it goes for all his other insect morphs. What made his ant experience terrifying was the no sense of self, like only a part of a greater machine. He also got nearly torn apart by other ants… It’s one of the most terrifying morph experiences he’s ever had.

Cockroach – Jake prefers this morph to the fly, because roaches are harder to kill. The roach mind is the calmest in dark spaces, but in the light and around anything that may attempt to kill it makes controlling the body a bit harder. Eyesight is poor and fractured, for Jake in roach form can only see up to what’s in front of him. It can bail out fairly quick and knows how not to get stepped on. These insects are also capable of flight but for a very brief time.

Housefly – Way past the part of the utter grossness of turning into a fly, moving around as one Jake finds to be totally awesome. It can move in just about any direction and can cling to about any surface. Looking through its compound eyes Jake describes as viewing the world from a wall of teeny tiny TV screens with the colors all mixed up.

It’s an easy morph to handle, but sometimes its silent cries for sweet, greasy, or rotting food tend to get annoying.

Termite – Never used, for this bug is similar to an ant. Jake heard from his friends about their horrible experience. Cassie had suffered from it the most. Yeah, so morphing a termite isn’t something Jake would be willing to do.

Skunk (female) – A small mammal packed with a powerful stink. The instincts aren’t much of a big deal, and Jake’s never really had to spray anyone. He only morphed this skunk momma to help Cassie care for the real skunk’s kits. Cassie felt guilty and responsible for the creature that got burnt by a Dracon Beam as she was being kept in her barn that’s the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic.

Common Brown Bat – The bat is very useful for flying around in really dark places. Echolocation bursts from the mouth echo around and bring back inky black and white sketch images to help Jake see where he’s going. Its sense of hearing is fine and he can see somewhat in brighter areas, since bats aren’t blind as people think of them to be. The bat’s instincts are simple and easy to have control over.

Spider Monkey – Sario Rip morph in which cannot be used… However the monkey to what Jake remembers had decent senses (a little better than a human’s) and sure knew how to climb and swing from tree to tree. The instincts were easy to control, but the monkey mind sure was energetic. This morph reminded Jake of when he played around on the jungle gyms when he was younger.

Jaguar – Sario Rip morph in which cannot be used, but the jaguar was just as cool as his tiger morph with all the same instincts and senses.

Race Horse – A quadruped herd herbivore that likes to run, and the horse is built for endurance, sort of similar to the endurance of the wolf. A horse’s eyesight is nearsighted and not even close to being great as the eyesight of a bird of prey. Hearing and smell works just fine. The horse mind is skittish and could be startled easily. Jake only had to use this morph once, but if he must use it again that won’t be a problem. The horse morph is easy enough for him to control.

Parrot – Used this morph to go along with Cassie and the rest of his friends to save the real parrots from being used to advertise at some rainforest themed restaurant. It can see as well as a human, and is capable of speaking words. This bird is very intelligent and very colorful. However, Jake doesn’t really see any reason why he should use this morph again.

Hammerhead Shark – The hammerhead has the mind and instincts of a cold-blooded killer. The skin is rough and sandpapery, made up of teeny tiny teeth. There are rows of serrated sharp teeth in a hammerhead’s mouth. Eyesight and sense of smells are superb. It can sense other living creatures in the ocean.

It is rather calm and quiet most of the time, but Jake will go into a frenzy if he smells the scent of blood. This morph is well suited to going deeper into an ocean, since it can breathe underwater without ever having to surface like he must do with dolphin.

The one downside to being a shark is that he wouldn’t be able to stop moving, even if Jake has good experience with this morph.

Rhinoceros – The rhino is a morph used mostly as blunt force. Its instincts on default are calm and peaceful, because it is a grazing mammal. Its eyesight is very poor, but the rhino can tear through something as strong as an iron gate, or a wall of a house. The horn on its face is excellent for flinging enemies over Jake’s back when there’s a need to fight or just get rid of an obstacle. This animal is like a living tank as hardly anything is able to slow it down.

Mole – The mole is almost totally blind. It can hear but more like when a person can hear a conversation from one side of a closed door. Its sense of smell isn’t good, but it uses its sense of touch more than anything else. Jake so far has only used this morph once, for digging, because that’s what the mole is best at. The instincts weren’t overpowering for him in any way.

Mosquito – It’s not as close to being as good as a fly. Mosquitoes cannot fly as good, but with their antennae they can detect sound waves, air temperature and any change in the wind.

Jake hasn’t lost himself in the morph, but the instincts relating to hunger for blood is hard to ignore. Jake got transferred into Z-Space while he was in this morph, and the mosquito doesn’t seem to be very useful like the fly is...so he has no reason to use this morph again anytime soon. In fact, it’s likely he’ll feel nervous even thinking about morphing into a mosquito again.

Leeran – A Leeran is an alien species from a far away planet called Leera. They look like big yellow frogs, but with tentacles around their neck-less heads instead of forelimbs. The most special thing about them is that they are psychic.

Jake morphed into such a creature only once—so far anyway. The psychic thing he feels rather uncomfortable and embarrassed with. Luckily that can be turned off.

Leerans don’t move very fast underwater, and they are amphibians with a need to be near water constantly. The hammerhead shark or dolphin morphs work better for swimming purposes. The mind and instincts otherwise aren’t a problem. It’s pretty much an easy morph to move about in.

If there is a need to use that psychic ability for anything at all (in which Jake hopes not either way), he’ll morph the Leeran again. Jake also has a moral issue about morphing into sentient creatures—meaning he’d only go Leeran again if he absolutely must. If there are no other options.

Tyrannosaurus Rex – It’s a Sario Rip morph that cannot be used, because dinosaurs are extinct. Jake had some trouble morphing this dinosaur the first time because the mind and instincts were of a supreme carnivore. With seven-inch long teeth, a superb sense of smell, decent sight, and a whole lot of ruthlessness, it was an ultimate predator of the Cretaceous Period.

Dragonfly – Has compound eyes like any insect, only huge. Jake could see little fragments of his surroundings all around him without having to turn around. The dragonfly can also hover in place for a while, but according to the bug’s size, it can just barely go unnoticed. Although he wouldn’t go back to deciding to do this morph again unless needed. Cockroaches or flies (the roaches more so) would be better for doing indoor surveillance jobs.

Human (adult male) – There’s a rule in which everyone agreed to not morph into another human being—unless his or her permission was given. The real human had been a Controller and unconscious. When it came to saving Earth’s world leaders from being Yeerk infested, there was no other choice but to do this morph. The man looks almost what Jake would appear as in twenty years or so, but there’s nothing on the body instincts that are overwhelming or hard for Jake to stay himself.

Even though this is an easy morph, he’d be reluctant to go morph into this human being or any other human being again. Morphing into people wouldn’t be far off from what the Yeerks do to control others.

Anteater – Jake used this morph to slurp up some Helmacrons (see at bottom of Rest of History OOC post). The animal is a calm insectivore as it uses its long tongue to eat bugs. The anteater isn’t really much of a useful morph for Jake. There’s nothing special about it, aside from its bizarre appearance. Unless there are tiny enemies around (doesn’t have to be the Helmacrons), Jake doesn’t have any reason to use this morph again.

((Morphs he obtained at Nexus))

Great Horned Owl - The falcon cannot see at night, but the owl was born with natural night vision. With this nocturnal bird of prey's sight, Jake can see the night time like it is early afternoon. Another advantage to having this morph is that it is a silent flier.
